About Me and My Blog

My name is Amy.

I am a 40 year old woman who has had her share of happiness and heartache woven in and out of her life, just like everyone else.

In some ways I feel I am just like everyone else.  I have an amazing and supportive husband, a wonderful and energetic 4-year old daughter and an exciting and challenging career as a Speech-Language Pathologist and now a doctoral student.

In some ways I feel I am very different than everyone else.  In the last 6 years of my life, the difficulties that I have encountered have been in trying to fulfill my dreams of the family I thought I would always have.  I never exactly knew what that family would look like, but never in my wildest dreams thought I would struggle in acquiring it.

So through this blog, I tell you of my dreams, my heartbreaks and my hopes once again of creating a family that fulfills some ideas of what I once envisioned my family to be.  My goal is only to create understanding by providing an honest picture of how hard it can be to love and to lose, how challenging it is to let go of already set plans, and how broken it feels to not be able to fulfill dreams that others acquire so easily.  I also hope that while you read, you understand that hopefulness and happiness never elude me, even in my darkest moments.  I am amazed and grateful for my resilient heart.

If you are new to my blog and new to my story here are a few good places to begin:
1. If you want to know more about why I started this blog, go to my first post "Enter at Your Own Risk, I'm Keeping It Real"
2. If you want to know my back story and where my heartache began go to "Have You Met My Baby?"
3.  If you want to know how I feel about others like you who are willing to listen and support me on my journey, go to "Got Kindness?"

Thank you for reading and thank you for listening.  There is so much healing in telling my story and knowing that others truly want to understand.  I am so grateful for the compassion, concern and kindnesses bestowed onto me by family, friends and even strangers who have eithered lived my story with me or have learned about it some time later.  Thanks for being one of them.  I would love to hear from you by your comments, emails or other ways you see fit.  The door to my heart is always open to new discoveries.

From my heart to yours,

Amy
